Sun RPC headers /usr/include/rpc

Hi Claes,

An error is encountered when compiling an older custom class object from version 5.5 to version 6.11 on Debian 12 and version 7.x on Debian 13.  The error is /usr/include/rpc/rpc.h (and others) are not found.  The new location is /usr/include/tirpc/rpc/rpc.h (and others).  As a work-around, I copied /usr/include/rpc/*.h  to /usr/include/tirpc/rpc/.  That worked.  Another solution was to adjust several existing .h files, so the include reference points to /tirpc/rpc/rpc.h . That works, too.  But, is there an overlooked method; such as, soft links or changing a compile directive to look for the .h files in /usr/include/tirpc/rpc/*.h?

I'm good for now.  All is working by copying .h files over to the expected location.  Moving forward, do you recommend a better method to fix?

Regards,
/Ron

Hi Ron,

I think the normal way is to use the -I option in gcc to add search paths for include files

gcc ... -I /usr/include/tirpc

Yes, I tried the same compiler directive and it works great. A compiler directive seems to be the best overall method. Thanks for your thoughtful and speedy reply.
